Why do people Binge drink ?
The most frequent binge drinkers tend to be between 20 and 24 years old - although there are still many 25 to 34 year old binge drinkers. As people get older, they tend to do less and less binge drinking.

There is also no one place you will find binge drinking. Because the most frequent binge drinkers are relatively young, many people think of binge drinking as a university or college problem. But binge drinking can occur virtually any place where there is alcohol being consumed. That makes it a people problem.

There's no one reason people choose to binge drink.

Please drink in moderation.

You don't have to get drunk every time you drink.

You've probably even heard some of the most common reasons:

  • I just want to get drunk.
  • People think it's cool when you can drink a lot.
  • Everybody else is doing it.
  • My friends are telling me to do it.
  • I'm stressed out about work (or school).

When you actually write those reasons down, they don't exactly make for compelling arguments, do they?

But like most things in life, it's a different story when you're actually in a situation where there is the potential for binge drinking. After all, some people don't intend to go binge drinking. They're just out having a few drinks with friends and either get carried away or buy into the idea that getting drunk is part of a good time.

But the reality is that the people who go out and get drunk are in the definite minority. If you don't think so, take a good look around the next time you're out. The people who are drinking excessively will probably be pretty easy to pick out of the crowd...because once they're drunk, they're not really part of the crowd anymore.

Just look around. Your own eyes will tell you; getting drunk isn't as common as you might think.

You may have even seen - or experienced - the consequences of excessive drinking for yourself.

There are a lot of people who consider themselves "social drinkers."

They drink when they go out, but they know when to quit and don't drink until they're intoxicated. That's not the same as binge drinking...and binge drinking can have some all-too-real consequences that people don't consider.

Binge drinking can result in a variety of health problems. It can also result in social problems that are just as devastating. How big these problems become usually depends on how often a person goes binge drinking.

Physical Consequences.

  • Effects on the Liver
  • Effects on the Cardiovascular System
  • Effects on the Immune System
  • Effects on the Reproductive system
  • Alcohol poisoning

Social Consequences .

  • Increased Accidents
  • Missed work and school
  • Mental health problems
  • Relationship problems
  • High-risk sexual activity
Remember Don’t Drink and Drive - It’s not worth it.
